Cos & Effect

There was a new convention in my held at UBC this year called Cos & Effect for 2 days last weekend.

I was slaving away on costumes the week before the event, lol~
I got myself caught up in watching the entire Fushigi Yuugi series include 2 OVA's before the actual con which was an absolutely bad idea.
Somehow I managed to make it all work and finished my Nill (DOGS) and most of my Setsuka(Skip-Beat) costume.

Anyways, here is my overview of my convention experience:

Day 1:

I met up with my friend, Bam nearby my house and we drove together to UBC. I decided to stop by Coldstone's since I had a 50% off coupon that I had been wanting to use. In the end, I couldn't even finish the entire ice-cream. Unfortunatly I think the employee hadn't scrapped enough of the previous ice-cream order off of the hot plate and thus, I ended up with a hint of strawberry in my Oreo Overload. >A< It was gross...

I found out I had arrived earlier than Jin-san and ended up just chatting with friends until he arrived.
We both lacked a lot of sleep that day since we ended up staying up late or in his case, pulling an all-nighter to finish our DOGS costumes. He cosplayed as Haine Rammsteiner with me♥

I ended up bumping into Ken so he was kind enough to help us do a brief photoshoot sometime in the afternoon. Since we were in direct sunlight for a bit of the time, I kind of wish I had worn sunscreen... in anycase, I haven't received the pictures yet but I'm really looking forward to them! I hope I did well since I'm not really good at facial expressions for the innocent/sincere type of characters... I really want to try and practice more, as strange as that sounds.

Some self-shots :D All my dedicated hardwork in one week's time!
My sewing machine decided to pull one on me by constantly snapping the upper thread when I was sewing the ruffles down... not to mention it wouldn't gather my ruffles for me ^^"
So yes, I ended up hand gathering all the 12 meters or whatever amount I had of ruffles plus sewing it down onto the 3 meter dress.
FUN TIMES! (yes, I say this with irritation)

We look pretty tired behind our smiles, haha~

Trying to lighten the mood 8)
I love cosplaying with Jin, he always looks smashing! (Yes, even when he makes funny faces with me- they look better than me at least)

Picture of Karen and Evan working at Kawaiiboku booth~

I put my wings on Bam and I told him to make an inncoent face and now everytime I see this picture, I just feel like going kimochi warui, lol~ it's so grossly funny xD

with David and Bam, it's a Mei sandwich! 8)
After that, we had dinner nearby at a bubble tea place. It was so delicious, especially the milk tea!
Definetly craving milk tea from Well Tea now.

So here are some pictures from a friend of mine's camera~ much better quality than my iPhone camera.

All them ruffles 8D Here-- bonus shot(though I think there has already been way enough bonus shots for this post/day already...) IT'S NEVER ENOUGH THOUGH. ;A; I love sillyness because I am practically silly 24/7 xD

Day 2:

I got more sleepy the previous night which was nice from the lack of sleep with the previous night before.
I only had to go home after the first day of the convention to style my Setsuka wig.
Overall I think I did a decent job considering it was my first time styling this kind of style.

For anyone curious about the actual wig itself before it was styled-- here's the seller's picture.
I wish I took my own before I had cut it though. Oh well ^^"

I definetly feel that my wig styling skills have improved after that. Not 100% sure though but at least in terms of using the basics.

Since I was cosplaying as Setsuka today, I was supposed to have Kanon cosplaying as Cain alongside.
Unfortunatly we couldn't cosplay as the Heel siblings together so there'll probably be another photoshoot in the future. I have to finish the jacket properly anyways. The fabric is all cut up already. I ended up having a fun photoshoot with Rico and Celia.

with Rai in her Gumi cosplay~

and Uzuki-san in C.C cosplay<3

After I changed, I pulled my hair into a side ponytail and apparently Haya said that I looked like Ami/Mami from Idolm@ster. Since Uzuki was going to change, I requested her to do the same thing with me so we can twin xD We ended up dorking out and striking nerdy poses... how typical of me.

Oh man. The story with the following couple of pictures is just that Uzuki didn't know how to make cross-eyes for the photos so she had to use her fingers but it looked really cute and funny when I saw her do it. So I just bursted out in laughter...

I ended up doing cross-eyed photos with her and tried to teach her how to do it without the use of fingers XD

Now here are some polaroids from Cos & Effect.
It was fun seeing everyone, I really enjoy hanging out with my friends.

...and we went to dinner all the way in Richmond at a Hong Kong style cafe. It was nice!
I got to catch up with Rai a lot and it was all sorts of fun.
Unfortunatly the night had to end eventually so I drove Bam back home and that was the end of Cos & Effect weekend :)

Lastly, here is a photo Rico took of me in my Setsuka Heel cosplay~

plus a totally awesome CG that Celia made for me!

---------------------------------

So some of you may already know from my Twitter that I am catching up with Uta no prince-sama right now.
Some friends and I are planning on a group cosplay for their Maji Love 1000% performance outfits.
But personally I kind of want to crossplay casual wear Kurusu Shou.
So I ended up pulling this together for now.
Bought the shirt and hat and the shorts are the only thing I actually made from back during Art Institute fashion school days ^^"
I'd never sew pants unless I seriously have to, lol
Which is probably why I won't crossplay too often hahaha!

So yeah, that's all for now. Until then! :D
